Dennis Maruk had a prolific Junior Hockey career with the London Knights, the Toronto native would score 159 goals, 211 assists for 370 points in 191 games.
This was enough for him to be drafted in the second round by the California Golden Seals where he would instantly make an impact with 62 points in 80 games his rookie year, he would finish third in the Calder Memorial Trophy race. After stints with the Cleveland Barons and the Minnesota North Stars, Maruk’s career would take form with the Washington Capitals where he posted multiple 90+ point seasons, including in the 1981-1982 season where he set a Capitals single-season record with 60 goals 76 assists for 136 points in 80 games. Maruk would finish his NHL career with the Minnesota North Stars in 1989.
