ICE-HOCKEY-CLASSIC-RIVALRY

Keith Primeau Bio

Keith Primeau broke into the NHL during the 1990-1991 season with the Detroit Red Wings. After spending six years with the Red Wings, before being traded with Hall of Famer, Paul Coffey, and a first-round pick to the Hartford Whalers for Brian Glynn and Brendan Shanahan.

The Whalers would relocate ahead of Primeau’s second year with the team and were branded as the Carolina Hurricanes and Primeau would be named the second captain in team history in 1998. However, the next year Primeau would be traded again to the Philadelphia Flyers where he would become a captain again. In the 2000 playoffs, Primeau would score a goal with 7 minutes and 59 seconds into the fifth overtime to tie the Eastern Conference Finals at two against the Pittsburgh Penguins. After 92 minutes and one second of overtime, it is the longest game in the NHL’s modern era.
